few powerful ideas - just one liners, have generated billions of dollars. These ideas did not come from thin air, but based on a combination of feedback analytics from customers, sales analytics and marketing analytics. The founders of these companies analyzed a lot of pain points and arrived at these great pitches.

Cash on delivery

Flipkart tried the regular model but found a lot of people abandon the shopping cart. This is a very specific issue for India at that time. The buyer was not having a credit card to use in the portal. Once this was found to be the top most pain, to resolve, the model of selling was pivoted to cash on delivery. On this, the founders took some risk - what if the customer does not pay at the end, as we incur a lot of logistics cost. But it paid well.

Maximize the use of idle assets

Uber or AirBnB, do not have any asset on their names. They do not produce anything. They do not have service stations. Yet, they are able to achieve great heights. The precise problem is that, a car, is used for 2-3 hours a day and rest of the time it is idle. Same thing for a room in your house, that is not occupied for weeks. How to make money using these idle assets? Who will bridge the buyer and asset? Both companies made billions out of idle assets.

My mobile call must cost less than the postcard - Dhirubhai Ambani

Disrupt postcard with mobile

When Ambaniji started his Telecom division, he saw Indian Postal Department's postcard as his biggest competition. No one would have seen a postcard the way he did. If the content on the postcard reads for a minute and costs just fifty paise, my customer who uses my network must pay less than that for a minute. This is the idea that brought telecom revolution in India.

Simplify - simplify everything

Bill Gates felt that every home must use PC and that PC must run his software. People ridiculed him at that time. He had the last laugh on them who laughed at him. He felt that computer usage was not easy for even a learned person. Computer was considered as the most complex stuff in those days. Hence he made sure that everything in computer, is made simple - locating, storing, creating, editing, deleting, etc. That goal to simplify really changed the way we use computers today.
